Muir and Thoreau are one-way glass cabins at Notestone Reserve in Laurelville, Ohio. Mirrored on the outside by day, so the forest reflects back on itself. Transparent from the inside, so the woods are the only wallpaper. At night, the effect reverses, so the curtains do their job. Close them, you’re in a private room. Leave them open, you sleep surrounded by trees.
The bathroom is frosted glass with a rain shower head. The queen bed sits in the open studio. Both homes are set on 14 acres, with the units spaced so the view from bed is trees, not other guests.
In winter, the glass frames ice-covered branches and fog sitting in the hills. The hot tub runs year-round. A lot of guests say the winter view is their favorite.
Not better, not worse — a different kind of stay. Here’s what sets them apart.
For what it's worth, all four of our cabins come with private hot tubs and welcome dogs. The comparison above is about cabins in general.
Both are mirror homes. Here’s what sets them apart.

Most guests who book a mirror home are looking for a romantic cabin in Hocking Hills - anniversary stays, first big trips together, and the kind of weekend where the whole point is to be somewhere that isn’t home.
One room, one bed, three walls of glass. There’s no layout that puts you in different corners of the place. No TV pulling attention somewhere else. The hot tub is steps from the door, the fire pit is outside, and Hocking Hills is right there when you want it.
If you’re celebrating something - or just need two days where you’re not managing anything - this is what the homes are built for.
Marking an anniversary specifically? Our anniversary trip guide walks through how guests build the whole evening around it.
You’re close to everything worth seeing - and far enough from everything else.
“My husband and I shared our anniversary in this mirrored cabin and it was one of the best experiences we’ve had in our 16 years of marriage. Stacey was excellent, responded quickly to questions that I had about the property and questions I had on our trip. We are hoping to make this our yearly retreat!”
The things guests actually want to know — answered plainly.
Our tiny homes have the same private hot tub and fire pit setup, with a loft queen bed, fully equipped kitchen, and smart TV.
