Muir sits on a hillside in the trees — mirrored walls that disappear into the forest by day and open completely to the woods at night. It's one of two mirror homes (also called glass cabins) at Notestone Reserve, our family-owned 14-acre property in Laurelville, Ohio, built around a single idea: get you as close to the woods as possible without asking you to give up a comfortable bed.

Inside, a queen bed sits directly in front of floor-to-ceiling glass with nothing but trees in view. During the day the mirrored exterior is completely private — you can see out, no one can see in. At night the curtains provided near the bed close things off. The bathroom is frosted glass with a rain shower head. There's no TV here — intentionally. The view is the entertainment.

The kitchen is set up for simple meals and coffee: apartment-size fridge, portable stovetop, air fryer, and a French press alongside the coffee maker. Outside: private hot tub tucked against a natural rock formation, woodburning fire pit with firewood and starter log, seating for two.

Muir has a steeper driveway approach — 4WD or AWD strongly recommended in winter months.

What guests are saying.

★★★★★

“Our stay was nothing short of magical. From the moment we pulled up, we felt like we had stepped into a hidden retreat designed just for us. Every detail was so intentional — cozy yet modern, beautifully decorated, and stocked with everything we could possibly need. The big windows were one of our favorite features, letting in natural light during the day and giving us the perfect view of the trees at night. It felt like living in the middle of nature without sacrificing comfort.”

“We stayed over New Year's and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Clean, cozy, and exactly as described. It snowed during our stay and the scenery was absolutely beautiful — waking up to snow in the quiet, peaceful surroundings made the experience feel extremely special. A perfect place to unplug, reflect, and bring in the new year. We would absolutely stay here again.”
