Comfort without pretense. Nature without roughing it. A family-owned property shaped by the belief that broken things, carefully arranged, can become something worth keeping.
Notestone Reserve started with a piece of land in the Hocking Hills and a simple conviction: that there is something worth doing in taking a place with potential and making it into something people will actually remember.
We are hands-on owners. We designed the spaces, made the calls, and we're the ones who answer when you reach out. Every unit on the property reflects a decision we made — about materials, sightlines, comfort, the way morning light falls through a window.
Ten units later, 14 acres of Ohio sandstone country, and we're still at it. Still thinking about what makes a stay worth taking a day off for.
"Restoration is something we think about a lot. The idea that something with potential can become something worth keeping — that broken pieces, carefully arranged, become magnificent."— The Owners, Notestone Reserve
We don't do "rustic charm" as an excuse for uncomfortable. We don't do luxury as a reason to be sterile. Everything at Notestone falls somewhere honest in between.
Every unit has a private hot tub, quality bedding, WiFi, and a fully equipped kitchen. The trees and the quiet are the amenity — not an apology for missing the others.
We care about the details — the coffee situation, the towels, the pillows. But we're not trying to impress you with a design statement. We want you to feel at home.
When you book direct, you're communicating with us. We know every inch of the property. We can tell you which unit gets the best sunset, which trail is best in mud season.
Four of our cabins are pet-friendly: Austen, Hemingway, Stowe, and Sherwood. A pet welcome basket with treats and waste bags is waiting when you arrive. Dogs stay on leash on the property.
400+ five-star reviews across Airbnb, Vrbo, and Google don't happen by accident. Cleanliness and condition are not optional for us. They're table stakes.
Each unit is named for a writer who paid close attention to the natural world — Frost, Thoreau, Muir, Austen, Hemingway. We thought that felt right for a place like this.
Fourteen acres across rolling Ohio hills, divided into three distinct experiences. Every unit has a private hot tub, fire pit, and access to our shared game room.
Lofted, intimate, and perfect for two. Queen beds under the eaves, private outdoor spaces, and everything you need — nothing you don't. Ideal for couples and solo travelers.
Floor-to-ceiling glass walls that bring the forest inside. Modern architecture designed around the view. These are the most distinctive units on the property — a genuine experience.
Larger spaces for families, groups, and gatherings. Multiple bedrooms, full kitchens, covered decks, and room to spread out. Four are dog-friendly. Stowe has an electric fireplace. Great for reunions, retreats, and celebrations.
Every unit at Notestone is named for a writer known for observing the natural world closely and honestly — the kind of writers who went to the woods and came back with something to say. It felt like the right company to keep.
We're in Laurelville — a quiet township in the heart of Hocking Hills, about 60 miles southeast of Columbus. Surrounded by sandstone cliffs, hemlock gorges, and some of the best hiking in the Midwest.
Close to everything that makes Hocking Hills worth visiting. Far enough from everything else that you'll actually feel like you left.

"Stowe was the perfect place for a girlfriends getaway! The cabin was immaculate — we felt like the first to stay because of how clean it was. You could tell how much thought went into every detail. The beds were the comfiest I've had in any Airbnb. One of those stays where you already start planning the return trip."
"Our stay was nothing short of magical. From the moment we pulled up, we felt like we had stepped into a hidden retreat designed just for us. Every detail was so intentional — cozy yet modern, beautifully decorated, and stocked with everything we could possibly need."
"We had an incredible stay and couldn't have asked for a better setup for our family of five. The interior is beautifully done — feels both cozy and elevated. The hot tub was a huge highlight. The game room was an amazing bonus. The hosts were fantastic from start to finish: responsive, friendly, and incredibly easy to work with."
